End of the line - The end of the course

2017-05-02

When I first started the module I had high hopes, because I was having trouble with studying. Never got the hang of it, instead I focused on learning by trial and error, and actually doing something.

This had to change sooner or later, and this later was in my fourth semester of my university studies. I had the pleasure of sitting through 13 advanced syntax lectures, which is almost gibberish even to those who actually know what is going on. When the opportunity came to learn how to learn (or to study in this case) I was thrilled by the idea. I needed this.

The first few modules were very interesting, and laid the foundations in the correct way, while not fussing too much about. Straight to the point, just as I like it.

When I managed to get to the middle of the course I felt as if I was being told something that I've been told countless times in my university studies, so I felt as if it was something that was meant for people planning to go to university, and not someone who actually is at a university, and is fighting in the front lines. It was still good nonetheless, but I felt that the middle part (namely module 4 and 5) could and should have been much better, both in presentation and in content. I had the faint feeling that these modules were something similar to what university students do. I will now demonstrate

"Task : Your essay must be X words long, MLA style about a topic, freely chosen by you."
"Student : I really really really really really really really really really really really really want to get this over with, so I am just going speak in circles. I very very very very very very very very very very very very much want to be done with the task. Now that I am done with the task, indeed very much, I can conclude that I am very very very very very very very very very happy to have completed this."

Overall it is safe to say that I had learned a lot from this, got the solid basics, now it is only up to me to create my own methods, and tackle everything.

If I had to rate it I'd probably give it like a 6.5 or 7 out of 10. By the end I kind of enjoyed this. Without modules 4 and 5 it would be a solid 8 or 9. Too bad. Maybe they are getting feedback other than mine. At least I hope they do.
