Modul 2 - Key skills

2017-04-04

TL;DR : Continued learning the basics, which is a little bit too long in my opinion

The second module started off with the question of "Why do we use key skills?", then it went on by saying that we use these skills in different areas of our lives.

These are:

1, Improving own learning and performance
2, Communication
3, Information Technology
4, Application of number
5, Problem solving
6, Working with others

Now that is good, but how am I supposed to know how to use these skills, if I don't have them? I'm guessing I'll be taught them later.

These skills include something obvious, which we do not think about, let's take for example communication. It just says to give a presentation on a topic, or write a report on it. This is something I wouldn't think about under learning, but hey, that's why I'm doing this course.

The thing I liked about this module very much is that it promotes the practical method instead of theoritical, and it does say multiple times that you should do everything in practice, as reading about stuff won't actually help you accomplish anything. I still like the way this is working. It is closely tied in with monitoring your progress, and critically reflecting on what you have done so far, and how you could imprive. Again, this something so simple, yet so effective, and I never really took time to look into what I did in detail.

Also, finally something I already knew, it was about goals! Yay! The jist of it is that we should set realistic goals, and work hard to reach them, and don't waste time!. Mhm. Good stuff. Kinda. Daydreaming is something that I'm going to have to lose (according to this course)

After that, the module goes into very detailed description about the 6 points above, which I like and dislike at the same time.

I like it because I can learn more, but at the same time I dislike it because it is too detailed for its own good.

Although it seems like I'm going to have to spend much more time with the course than I initially thought, I'm still interested. Still looking good.
