Modul 3 - Reading.

2017-04-10

The first thing that hit me today when I decided to do a little bit of progress with the course is that they changed the outlook of the style.

I couldn't even log in! Woah! Must be something radical.

Nope.

The course looks the same way it did. Which is nice.

After getting through the initial difficulties I found out that the next module I'll have to deal with is the one which has to do with reading.

Yeah. Reading. You read that right.

I really hate reading. I really do. One of my least favorite activities. If I could choose between doing chores and reading I'd probably go with the chores, at least I can stay active while I'm doing them.

Right at the beginning the course material just shows you that reading for scholary purposes is going to be different from reading just by free will.

Jokes on the course, I never read, so it does not matter whether I'm going for scholary purpose or entertainment.

Although the first three mentioned points which are different (Quantity, difficulty, and purpose) aren't really my type of deal, the last one which is Active engagement is more of what I'm used to. Making up something from what you've read. Now this is something I could work with. (If I read, that is.)

For someone who honest to God has no idea how to begin reading stuff for academic purposes the next part was really useful. It went into detail how quickly I should be reading a familiar, moderately familiar, or a completely unfamiliar text. I'm guessing there is a norm for reading, and that everyone can do similarly, but it's hard to believe. It is also stated in the work that there should be some thought provoking stuff included.

Mmmhm. No.

Instead of this I would have focused on the important things, like the credibility and reliability of the used source. This does not get the amount of attention it should. 1 sub-module isn't really too shabby, considering it only lasts for like 7 clicks. Too bad.

So far this was the weakest link in the course, an "eh" at best, I hope that the next ones are going to be better than this one.
